Certifications
Every exporter in our network is vetted for the certifications EU and UK buyers require. Here's what each one means and how to request it.
Global Organic Textile Standard
GOTS is the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It certifies the entire supply chain — from raw cotton through spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing — against strict environmental and social criteria.
Why buyers require it
Required by major EU and UK retailers for any product carrying an organic claim. Certification covers prohibited chemicals, wastewater treatment, fair labour conditions, and full traceability. If your buyer is a mid-to-large European retailer, assume they will ask for GOTS.
How to request it
Tick GOTS under required certifications on your RFQ. We confirm which products carry active GOTS certification and supply the transaction certificate (TC) for your specific shipment.
Tested for Harmful Substances
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests every component of a textile product — including threads, buttons, and dyes — against a list of harmful substances. A product carrying this label has been independently verified to be harmless to human health.
Why buyers require it
Required by most EU retailers as a baseline across all product ranges, not just organic. It is complementary to GOTS — many buyers need both. OEKO-TEX 100 is especially important for products in direct contact with skin (underwear, babywear, bedlinen).
How to request it
Our supplier network holds current OEKO-TEX 100 certificates across woven fabrics, knit fabrics, and garments. Certificate numbers are available for verification before you commit to an order.
Quality Management System
ISO 9001 certifies that a manufacturer operates a documented quality management system — covering process control, defect tracking, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
Why buyers require it
Gives buyers confidence in production consistency. ISO 9001 certified mills maintain documented processes that reduce the risk of quality variation across orders, which is particularly important for repeat orders at scale.
How to request it
All manufacturers in our core network are ISO 9001 certified. We can supply the certificate on request before production commences.
EU Chemical Safety Regulation
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is EU Regulation 1907/2006 governing the use of chemical substances in products sold in the EU. Textiles sold into the EU must comply with REACH substance restrictions.
Why buyers require it
Mandatory for any textile product sold in the EU. Non-compliant products can be seized at customs. REACH compliance is not a separate certification — it is a legal requirement demonstrated through test reports from accredited laboratories.
How to request it
We work exclusively with exporters who supply REACH test reports as standard. Reports are issued by SGS, Intertek, or Bureau Veritas and are included in the shipment documentation.
Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production
WRAP is an independent, objective, non-profit team of global social compliance experts dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane, and ethical manufacturing around the world. WRAP-certified factories have been audited against 12 production principles covering human rights, labour practices, factory safety, and environmental standards.
Why buyers require it
Required by many North American retail buyers — particularly US apparel importers — as a baseline social compliance standard for supplier factories. WRAP is the most widely recognised social certification in Pakistan's garment export sector and is accepted by major US importers as evidence of ethical sourcing.
How to request it
All garment and workwear factories in our core network hold current WRAP certification. Platinum, Gold, and Silver levels available. Certificates available on request before order placement.
Business Social Compliance Initiative
BSCI (now amfori BSCI) is a leading supply chain management system used by European brands and retailers to monitor and improve the social performance of their supply chain. BSCI audits assess factories against the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, covering labour rights, health and safety, and management systems.
Why buyers require it
Required by most European retail and wholesale buyers as their primary social audit standard. If your buyer is a European brand, they will almost certainly require BSCI or an equivalent social audit (SA8000, SMETA). Many buyers in the GCC's major retail groups also use BSCI.
How to request it
BSCI-audited factories are available across our garment and home textile network. Audit reports can be shared directly in the amfori BSCI platform. Specify BSCI on your RFQ.
Better Cotton Initiative
Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is the world's largest cotton sustainability programme, training farmers to improve environmental and social practices. BCI cotton is mass-balance — the verified sustainable cotton is credited to the supply chain, supporting better practices without requiring physical fibre separation.
Why buyers require it
Required by major North American and European retailers including H&M, Walmart, Target, Marks & Spencer, and others who have committed to sourcing 100% Better Cotton. For buyers in these channels, BCI or equivalent (GOTS/organic) is increasingly a listing requirement. It is a lower-cost entry point to sustainable sourcing than full GOTS certification.
How to request it
BCI cotton yarn and fabric is available from our spinning and knitting mill partners. Transaction certificates and volume claims are issued per shipment. Our BCI cotton luxury towel gift set is a ready-to-ship example of this certification in practice.
